CERG establish Quarterly Forum

The Centre of Excellence in Responsible Gaming (CERG) at the University of Gibraltar has established a quarterly forum for dialogue between the University and the gambling operators based in Gibraltar. This forum aims to provide updates on CERG’s activities, facilitate discussion between CERG and industry representatives to increase understanding of gambling problems and provide usable, empirically based knowledge to minimize gambling harm and reduce the impact of gambling disorders and protect at-risk consumers.
At this installation of the forum, CERG presented to representatives of the gambling industry of Gibraltar the results of a multi-method study that aimed to understand needs and perceptions of compliance and responsible gambling executives related to training, scientific research, and support services for customers and employees. The researchers achieved a response rate of close to 100% of B2C remote gambling companies located in Gibraltar, who collectively serve more than 50% of the global market. The study, which combines quantitative results with rich qualitative data, is being prepared for publication as the first academic exploration of the gambling industry’s research-related needs.
