Collaborative Relationships Are Explored With The University Of Bath

5th May 2016

A very fruitful meeting was held on the 4th of May at the University of Gibraltar’s Europa Point Campus where the Vice-President (Implementation) of the University of Bath, Mr Steve Egan, had the opportunity to meet with members of the University of Gibraltar’s Sports Key Advisory Group as well as University senior staff. Mr Egan is in Gibraltar at the invitation of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniella Tilbury, during which time he will also be meeting with members of the University’s Academic Board and Governors.

At the meeting Mr Egan was able to outline areas of excellence where the University of Bath enjoys international renown, particularly Sports Development, but also Computer Science and Business Management among others.

Subjects on offer as part of the University of Bath’s world-leading Sports Development programme include physiotherapy, sports science and fitness training, all of which are supported by state-of-the-art facilities, sector-leading sport scientists and physiotherapists as well as world-class coaches. This is evidenced by their having 250 international-level athletes and more than 20 regional or national sport squads basing themselves at the University of Bath’s Sports Training Village.

Several exciting opportunities for possible collaborative ventures between both institutions were discussed, and a roadmap was agreed for the development of future programmes to include Gibraltar-based components which could provide recognised and relevant offerings to the local community.
