Modules

Delivered by expert teaching staff and industry experts, the MBA (Gaming) is designed to ensure our graduates feel prepared to take on leadership roles.

Semester 1

Accounting and Reporting

This module examines accounting from a holistic perspective by examining not only financial and management accounting topics, but also those sources of value that include the social, environmental, and governance impacts of business activities.

Marketing Management

This module offers a conceptual basis for making marketing decisions in a fast-changing business environment where organisations face competitive, social and environmental challenges in delivering customer value and achieving their business objectives. Marketing management requires a broad understanding of consumer behaviour and contemporary marketing strategies related to product development and management, pricing, distribution and communication, to enable decision making that reflects an understanding of their ethical, social and sustainability impacts.

Managing New Technologies

This module provides the theoretical framework that will allow students to gain a critical understanding of the importance of management information systems in an organisation and explore its application in their own business environment. They will also be introduced to dynamic new technologies and will examine the possibilities that new technologies would bring to their own organisations.

Managing People

This module concentrates on how people are managed as a resource, and how best to leverage the important resource they provide, while also behaving responsibly and ethically. The module also includes a focus on written skills, as this is key to most business settings where HR and other managers must compete for limited resources.

Semester 2

Leadership and Managing Change

This module focuses on responsible leadership of change which is leadership that not only anticipates, plans and implements change efficiently and effectively but does so in an environmentally sustainable way, with a high regard for ethical principles and due care for the interests of stakeholders.

Managerial Finance

In this module, we provide a framework for firms to make optimal decisions to achieve the firm’s objective. Conventionally, we regard this as being to maximise the value of the firm, but very early in the module, we critically discuss the limitations and implications of this assumption in light of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

Compliance Leadership

This module will provide a deep theoretical understanding of compliance, its role in society and the economy, the models and approaches used, and the fundamental policy, legal and regulatory instruments of compliance. In addition to providing a comparative global overview of gambling compliance, the module will provide a detailed examination of compliance frameworks in key jurisdictions: Gibraltar, the UK and one member country of the European Union (to be selected annually). Guest experts will offer local knowledge and experience.

Strategic Decision Making

This module focuses on strategic management as a dynamic process that deals with the challenges posed by the highly turbulent and global environment of the 21st century. It is designed to sharpen students’ ability to think strategically, to evaluate organisational situations from a strategic perspective and to reach sound strategic decisions.

Semester 3

Capstone Project

The aim of this module is to consolidate students’ learning acquired throughout their MBA (Gaming) into a single Capstone Project. Students will carry out an independent study on a topic of their choice within the gaming industry. They will have the opportunity to apply the comprehensive theoretical knowledge, understanding and skills that they obtained throughout the MBA (Gaming) to an area of interest within either their own workplace setting, or a gaming organisation of their own choosing.
