English Language Requirements
The University of Gibraltar offers international students a range of
English language requirements for international students

*The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $49. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample which are shared with the University of Gibraltar when you send your results. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session.
International applicants’ English language skills may be further assessed by face-to-face interview.
In addition to English language, all applicants will need to meet programme-specific entry requirements relating to subjects, grades and/or work experience.
English language requirements for students from Europe
If you’re from a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), even if it’s a majority English-speaking country, we may still need you to demonstrate your proficiency in the English language. We will let you know about this during the application process.
Information and support
If you do not meet our entry requirements (IELTS 6.0 – 6.5 programme dependent), you can still apply as we will consider your application on the condition that you attend our Pre-sessional English courses.
