Facebook Platform Outage Survey | Centre of Excellence in Responsible Gaming

The Centre of Excellence in Responsible Gaming are carrying out a survey to learn more about people's reactions to the Facebook platform outage
9th December 2021
The University of Gibraltar’s Centre of Excellence in Responsible Gaming are carrying out a survey to learn more about people’s reactions to the Facebook platform outage.
On 4th October 2021 Facebook and its subsidiaries, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Mapillary, and Oculus, became globally unavailable for a period of six to seven hours. The outage also prevented anyone trying to use “Log in with Facebook” from accessing third-party sites.
The goal of this study is to assess the impact of this outage on the psychological and social well-being of Facebook platform users, to understand how this outage impacted their everyday life. Data will be gathered in several countries; results will be aggregated, published and presented in scientific conferences and to the general public, in the forms of articles.
The 10-minutes survey asks participants to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences, as they relate to the Facebook platform outage.
