2021

Graduation is an opportunity to celebrate your academic achievement with friends and family.
The University is working on an unforgettable graduation ceremony that adheres to the HM Government of Gibraltar/Public Health guidelines on Covid-19. You can look forward to an intimate event on campus in which you will have the opportunity to celebrate with those closest to you.
The event will be live streamed so that you can share the moment with your extended family and friends.

Essential Information Guide

Date of Graduation: Saturday 4th December 2021.

Where will the ceremonies take place?

Graduation ceremonies will take place at our Europa Point Campus.

How long does the ceremony last?

Please allow around two hours for the ceremony. The graduation ceremony will last approximately one hour, with the additional hour allowing for gowning and photography.

Where will I be seated?

Students will be sat with their fellow graduands, while their guests will be sat separately.

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Graduation is a formal occasion, therefore, students and guests are expected to attend in appropriate formal wear.

Should I wear academic dress?

What happens on the day of the ceremony?

Please see below schedule to give you an idea of the running of the days events:
Time (approx.) Activity Description
10 mins. Arrival on campus. Graduands and guests will be asked to sign-in and check their coats.
20 mins. Gowning of graduands and guests take their seats. Graduands will be guided to the Conference Hall for gowning, while our ushers will guide guests to their seats.
60 mins. Graduation ceremony. The ceremony will begin with an academic procession, leading graduands to their seats. The Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, and class valedictorians will address attendees, before graduands will be called to the stage one-by-one to receive their certificates. The ceremony will close with an academic procession back to the Conference Hall.
20 mins. Photography and de-gowning. Graduates who have opted for professional photographs will be directed to the photographer (for more information on booking professional photographs please email seo@unigib.edu.gi).
All graduates will be asked to return their cap and gown to ushers waiting in the Conference Hall.
30 mins. Celebratory drinks. Graduates and their guests will be offered a complementary drink as a fond farewell from the University.

Where will I park?

Please be aware that parking at our Europa Point Campus is limited, therefore, please allow a good amount of time to arrive in case you need to make alternative parking arrangements nearby.
Europa Point is served from the centre of town by regular buses. Where possible, we encourage the use of public transport when visiting us. For more information, go to: http://www.gibraltarbuscompany.gi

What if I cannot attend the ceremony?

Should your circumstances change and you are unable to attend your graduation in person, rest assured that you will still be a part of this special day through our very own live stream of the event.
Each ceremony will be livestreamed on this page on Saturday 4th December 2021, following which the videos will be available on our YouTube page.
