Essential Information Guide

Date of Graduation: Saturday 2nd December 2023.

Where will the ceremony take place?

The Graduation ceremony will take place at the Europa Point Sports Complex.
Gowning and professional photography will take place at the Europa Point Campus.

How long will the ceremony last?

Please allow around two hours for the ceremony (15.00 to 16.30).
Graduands must arrive early to allow time for gowning, and guests will be asked to take their seats by 14.45

Where will I be seated?

Students will be sat with their fellow graduands, while their guests will be sat separately. Ushers will guide guests and graduands to their seats.

Is there a dress code?

Yes. Graduation is a formal occasion, therefore, students and guests are expected to attend in appropriate formal wear.

Should I wear academic dress?

What happens on the day of the ceremony?

Please see below schedule to give you an idea of the running of the day’s events:

 

Time (approx.) Activity Description
12.30 – 14.30 Arrival and Gowning. Graduands will arrive on Campus and gown in the main hall. (Graduands have the option to take their professional photographs before the ceremony; for further details contact seo@unigib.edu.gi).
Paid ticket holders and guests will be checked-in at the Europa Point Sports Complex main entrance.
14.45 – 15.00 Final call to take seats. Paid ticket holders and guests will be required to take their seats by 14.45
Graduands will be guided to the Graduation Hall (Europa Point Sports Complex) to take their seats.
15.00 – 15.15 Academic Procession. Gowned academics will process into the Graduation Hall and take their seats.
15.15 – 16.30 Graduation Ceremony. The ceremony will consist of: graduands being called to the stage one-by-one to receive their certificates; valedictorian speeches; presentation of special recognition awards; commencement speech.
16.30 – 16.45 Academic Procession. Gowned academics and graduates process from the Graduation Hall.
End of event for invited guests.
16.45 – 19.00 De-gowning, photography and celebratory drinks.

Only open to graduates and paid ticket holders.

Graduates and paid ticket holders will be guided to the Europa Point Campus for professional photography (to book your spot or for more information contact seo@unigib.edu.gi), de-gowning, and celebratory drinks.

What if I cannot attend the ceremony?

Should your circumstances change and you are unable to attend your graduation in person the ceremony will be available on our YouTube page after the ceremony.

Will professional photography be available?

Portrait photographers will be on Campus before and after the ceremony to take portraits of graduates and their invites guests. Portraits must be booked by Monday 28th November to guarantee availability.

Parking

Please be aware that parking will not be available at the Europa Point Campus, and there will be limited parking at the Europa Point Area on the day.
Please allow plenty of time in case you need to make alternative parking arrangements nearby.
Europa Point is served from the centre of town by the number 2 bus. Where possible, we encourage the use of public transport when visiting us. For more information, click HERE.
