The University is delighted to announce the appointment of its first Head for the School of Sport. Dr Nick Pye will take up his role on the 7th September. The selection process was supported by representatives from the Key Advisory Group for Sport.

We are thrilled to be able to count on Dr Pye’s expertise. Nick is Principal of Teamz International, an independent sports consultancy. He also holds a Guest Professorship with Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences and is a visiting university lecturer with Loughborough University, Bond University, and the Universitaria Real Madrid & Universidad Europea. He has extensive curriculum development expertise as well as experience of quality and programme approval processes. Nick’s research interests include the use of sport for social change and development, the role of sport in city planning, and the changing concepts of event legacy. Nick grew up in Gibraltar, before moving overseas, and retains strong connections with the Rock.

The University is planning a formal launch for the School of Sport which will host various certificate programmes in Coaching, an undergraduate Sports Management degree as well as a Masters in International Sport and PhD research opportunities in the area.
