The University of Gibraltar has opened the Kusuma Trust Conference Suite, a flexible, modern space in the South Wing for teaching, student life, conferences and community events.

On Thursday 15 October 2026, the University of Gibraltar officially opened the Kusuma Trust Conference Suite. The opening marks an important milestone for the University, and it was made possible by the generous support of Kusuma Trust Gibraltar.

The new suite gives our students, staff and partners a professional setting to learn, meet and share ideas, with some of the finest views on campus across the Strait of Gibraltar.

From Bistro Point to conference suite

The suite occupies the space that was once Bistro Point. Thanks to Kusuma Trust Gibraltar, it has been completely refurbished and repurposed into three connected spaces:

  • A multi-purpose hall for lectures, events and gatherings
  • A conference suite for seminars, workshops and regional and international conferences
  • An executive boardroom for meetings with partners and external organisations

A space for students and the community

The suite has been designed to support our teaching, enrich student life, host regional and international conferences, and serve the wider Gibraltarian community.

It also reflects how we teach. We build our programmes alongside industry, bring in practitioners who connect theory to professional practice, and give every student meaningful work placements or projects before they graduate. The new suite gives students an adaptable, professional environment in which to collaborate and engage with external organisations and professionals.

Celebrating the opening

Guests at the ceremony included Kusuma Trust Trustees Soma Pujari and Peter Isola, and the Trust’s Manager, Michelle Tosso, alongside distinguished guests and University colleagues. After remarks from the Vice-Chancellor and from Soma Pujari on behalf of the Trust, guests toured the main suite and boardroom and enjoyed refreshments.

We would like to thank Kusuma Trust Gibraltar once again for their support.

Professor Catherine Bachleda, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the University of Gibraltar, stated:

“Today is a special milestone for us. None of this would have been possible without Kusuma Trust Gibraltar, and their support represents far more than an investment in bricks and mortar. It is a long-term investment in our students’ potential and in the University’s role in Gibraltar’s future. For their continued partnership, we are deeply grateful.”
