The University of Gibraltar’s annual Nursing Students Conference once again highlighted the dedication, creativity, and potential of our BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing and BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing students

This year’s conference provided an opportunity for students across all three years of the programme to present their work to peers, staff, local organisations, and invited guests.

Year 1 students showcased their understanding of key healthcare issues through insightful public health posters. Congratulations to Lucia Cardenas, who was awarded first place for her poster titled “Autism – The Early Years.”

Year 2 students impressed attendees with their innovative resources designed to support patients living with long-term conditions. This year’s winner, Narelle Grech, presented the Trivia Colostomy Edition Board Game, a creative tool to aid patient education and engagement.

Year 3 students focused on service improvement projects, demonstrating practical solutions to enhance patient care and safety. Well done to Isabella Cabezutto, whose project on Implementing Magnetic Whiteboards to Improve Communication and Reduce Medical Errors in Acute Care was recognised as the best in her year group.

In addition to the students’ presentations, the conference welcomed four nursing students from Birmingham City University. Their contributions offered valuable insights and encouraged exchange of ideas between institutions. Local charities were also in attendance, giving our future nurses opportunities to network and explore how they can further support the community and service users.

Events like this reflect the University’s commitment to developing skilled, compassionate nurses ready to make a difference in healthcare settings both locally and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work and professionalism, and we look forward to seeing how they continue to shape the future of nursing.
