Biography

Dr. Behbood brings a wealth of academic and practical experience to his role as Head of the Maritime School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Maritime Engineering in Nautical Studies in 2006, followed by an MBA in Shipping Logistics in 2010, and an MSc in Maritime Transportation Engineering in 2014, from Tehran Polytechnic University. He furthered his expertise by completing a Ph.D. in Marine, Ports and Coasts Sustainability at Madrid Polytechnic University in 2023.

His distinguished career includes a decade as a Ships’ Pilot, progressing from junior to senior roles between 2008 and 2018. He then transitioned into management, leading a maritime services firm specializing in pilotage, salvage and maritime operations until 2021. Throughout his career, from 2010 to 2024, Dr. Behbood dedicated himself to part-time lecturing in maritime subjects and served as a ship bridge simulator instructor, alongside his responsibilities as a verified STCW examiner and he is a member of IMLA (international maritime lecturer association). Prior to his current appointment, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Science and Technology – International Maritime College in Oman from 2022 to 2024.
