David is a senior technology architect with over 40 years’ experience in the design and delivery of complex systems across highly regulated industries, including pharmaceuticals, banking and finance, and energy.
He most recently served as chief regulatory solutions architect at Roche Pharma, Basel, where he led several major enterprise technology programmes, including the world’s largest Veeva SaaS implementation. He also won a Roche breakthrough award for the design and implementation of a sample management platform.
Prior to this, David held senior architect positions at Barclays Bank and AstraZeneca, where he was responsible for the architecture and delivery of large-scale enterprise and regulatory systems. During his time at Barclays, he also led an educational robotics programme for local schools as part of the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
Earlier in his career, he held leadership and consulting roles in the telecommunications and energy sectors, delivering multi-million-pound technology programmes and managing globally distributed teams.
David teaches across a range of undergraduate modules, including Introduction to Computer and Operating Systems, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering 1, Software Engineering 2, and Networks.
David holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Paisley University and is certified in SAFe 6 and TOGAF 9. He is an inventor with several patents in computer navigation and banking systems and has contributed to industry thought leadership through his involvement with the Microsoft Architecture Council.
Role
Adjunct Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Gibraltar. His teaching and research are centred on architecture system design, with a particular commitment to guiding students in developing practical, industry-leading implementation skills that prepare them for the world of work.
