Jonathan Pennell is a Data Engineer at Argus, working within the Business Intelligence (BI) team to support offices in Gibraltar, Malta, Canada, and Bermuda. With a software development and data analytics background, he specialises in building data pipelines, pricing models, and automation solutions that enhance business decision-making.
Originally earning a degree in Microbiology, Jonathan transitioned into tech after working briefly in a laboratory. He began his career as a developer for a local insurance start-up, later taking on roles as a pricing analyst and data engineer. Over the years, he has developed a broad skill set in Python, SQL, and system architecture, with additional expertise in Rust and C through personal projects and continuous learning.
Beyond his professional work, Jonathan is passionate about education and mentorship. He teaches GCSE and A-Level students at the Digital Skills Academy, incorporating robotics and hardware programming into his lessons to reinforce core programming concepts. Whether building scalable data solutions or inspiring the next generation of tech professionals, he is always looking for ways to apply his expertise in meaningful ways.
