Biography

Prior to his tenure with the Ambulance Service, Sigurd had a career in the maritime industry as a deep-sea diver. Since 2007, he has dedicated himself to the prehospital sector, where he played a pivotal role in pioneering Paramedicine in Gibraltar.
Sigurd’s academic journey includes receiving an MSc in Trauma Science from Queen Mary University, a PGCE in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Kingston University, and a BSc in Health Care. Additionally, St Georges University granted him an FdSc in Paramedicine.
Sigurd holds numerous roles and responsibilities within his field. He serves as a Pre-hospital Advanced Life Support provider, is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and acts as an External Examiner for the University of Stavanger. He also serves as a co-editor and manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Paramedic Practice, an approved Internal Quality Assurer for Qualsafe Awards, and the CEO of St John Ambulance – Gibraltar. Furthermore, he takes on the role of Divisional Clinical Lead for the Emergency Department, the Gibraltar Ambulance Service, the 111 call centre, and the Primary Care Centre within the Gibraltar Health Authority.
Beyond his professional duties, Sigurd possesses a profound fascination with hyperbaric medicine.
