Biography

At the University of Gibraltar, Susan currently lectures on the Bachelor of Business Administration programme, teaching the Business Law, Introduction to International Business and Business Ethics and Corporate Governance modules. She also lectures on the Master of Business Administration programme, teaching the Business Law module.

Susan is a specialist labour and employment lawyer and has practiced as a solicitor in the UK since 1999. Prior to moving to Gibraltar in 2016, Susan worked for a number of highly regarded UK law firms and organisations.

Susan was the first legal counsel appointed at the Engineers Employment Federation (now Make UK) a ‘Union’ for employers set up in 1896 where she provided businesses with employment law advice and representation at tribunal.

Susan also worked at Slater & Gordon (formerly Russell, Jones & Walker), the largest international consumer law firm in the UK and one of the first law firms to go public when it listed on the Australian stock exchange.

She became partner and then managing partner of Simpson Millar law firm’s Newcastle upon Tyne office before being appointed as the Northern head of legal for leading UK trade union, GMB.

Susan has over 20 years of advocacy experience, representing clients at the Employment Tribunal and she continues to provide legal training and consultancy services to both the public and private sector clients.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB including Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice., from Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
