The University Of Gibraltar Opens Its Doors

24th September 2015

The opening of the University of Gibraltar was described as a red letter day and one of huge pride for all the community – “the day in which we become a University City,” declared Chief Minister Fabian Picardo at the official opening on the 21st September 2015.

With successful open days and over 2,400 people visiting at the weekend Mr Picardo was confident this was indicative of the acceptance the project had received locally.

The Vice-Chancellor now has the task of taking the project forward, Professor Daniella Tilbury said in her address “it is a vision, it reflects what we are as a culture and what we aspire to all of which has been captured in the halls and walls of this university.  It is a source of local pride but it also aspires to reflect the contemporary values of our community and to contribute to its social economic development that is so important to our future security”.
