The Parasol Foundation Trust and the University of Gibraltar have awarded their first two Parasol Scholarships.
Both scholars were selected against criteria which included both academic qualifications and personal achievement. They both started on the university’s Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) programme in September.
One of the scholarships was awarded to Moroccan national Zainab Seddiki. She said, “I couldn’t have studied at University level had I not received the scholarship – it wasn’t an option for me. It allows me to develop my skills and secure a better future. I’m very grateful to Ruth Parasol for the opportunity.”
The second recipient of a Parasol Scholarship was La Linea de la Concepcion resident Pablo Castillo who said, “I am thankful to the Parasol Foundation Trust for their investment in my future. The scholarship represents an opportunity to study at University and will enable me to take firm steps towards a career in business”.
The Parasol Scholarship was created to remove the barriers faced by those students who may not be in a position to access higher education for financial reasons.
