What is AAT?
AAT is a professional body for vocational accountants, offering qualifications within a progressive structure which entitle those who have completed the exams and obtained relevant supervised work experience to become an accountant. AAT accounting and bookkeeping qualifications provide practical, internationally recognised finance and accountancy skills, which can open doors for you in any industry across the world.
The AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting Technicians is designed to provide learners with advanced accounting skills and knowledge. It builds on the foundation of previous AAT levels and prepares learners for senior finance roles, professional membership, or further study towards chartered accountancy.
In developing this qualification, AAT has carried out extensive consultation with and received input from a wide variety of stakeholders, including industry experts, employers and training providers.
This qualification enhances competencies in drafting financial statements, managing budgets, evaluating internal controls, and applying taxation principles. It is ideal for individuals aiming to strengthen their expertise in accountancy and finance.

The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting Technicians qualification consists of five mandatory units:
Preparing and interpreting financial statements in accordance with core reporting frameworks and accounting standards.
Applying planning, costing, and decision-making techniques to support performance and liquidity management.
Evaluating internal systems, assessing risks, and reporting findings through evidence-based assurance procedures.
Navigating the UK tax regime to calculate personal and corporate liabilities while identifying tax planning opportunities.
Developing strategic insight across decision-making, ethics, data, and sustainability to support effective business leadership.
The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting Technicians is a part-time course, with sessions twice a week in the evenings for two hours at the University campus. These timings accommodate those in employment.
The course timetable includes the following breaks: Mid-term, Easter, Summer and Christmas closures.
AAT offers a range of benefits for members (including study support, career advice to help you find the perfect job and exclusive discounts), as well as a route into chartered accountancy. If you decide to pursue further studies with a leading chartered professional body, such as ACCA, CIPFA, or CIMA, your AAT Accounting Qualifications will provide exemptions for specific papers.
The course will be offered on a part-time basis, subject to minimum numbers being met.
Sessions are scheduled to take place twice a week from 18:00 – 20:00 in one of our campuses, at Europa Point. Examinations are scheduled at 10:30am on campus (timing could be subject to change).

The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting Technicians fee for the 2026/2027 academic year is £3,027, including a tuition fee of £2,522 and exam fees of £505, payable directly to the University of Gibraltar.

Registration membership fees are to be paid directly by you to the AAT, please refer to www.aat.org.uk.
