The Institute of Education exists to further the reach, evolution and impact of Education in our society and in doing so aims to establish a quality culture across all its offerings, namely in educational research and the promotion of innovative practices in education.

At the University, the Institute of Education is the home of research into education, with a particular focus on education in Gibraltar. With two local researchers at present carrying out studies which have the potential to be transformational for education in Gibraltar (focussing on investigating 21st century pedagogy and on creating a bespoke induction programme for newly qualified teachers), the Institute is particularly interested in expanding the range of topics studied to impact and contribute to research-based practice both in Gibraltar and further afield.
As part of its mission, the Institute of Education aims to foster research-based partnerships, encouraging collaboration among researchers, practitioners and policy-makers.
