Jan focused on the challenges faced by small businesses in establishing a sustainable discussion network and introduced divergent thinking to the audience. Divergent thinking is a four stage process which encourages the generation of alternative and unique solutions to a business issue, culminating in writing a manageable plan.
Other practical ideas for the small business included, developing resilience, decision-making via tossing a coin, the energising effect of being outside and a recommendation to recruit an office plant for the workplace.
The session concluded with the benefits of regular journaling – which was endorsed by several of the attendees. A lively question and answer session drew the function to a close – with a healthy exchange of business cards!
