The University of Gibraltar is delighted to announce the appointment of its Parasol Librarian. Caroline Moss-Gibbons joins the University in May and will be responsible for learning resources including the Gibraltar Repository and associated resources.
Her specialist background within both public and academic information sciences will undoubtedly enhance the experience of students at the University. After starting her career in public libraries and the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Caroline was appointed in 1990 first as Collections Librarian, then later as the Institute Librarian and Web Manager of the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER). As well as being responsible for the library service as a whole (including developing the e-resources collection) she maintained IGER’s scientific publications and projects repository. From 1999 to 2008 she was Head of Heritage Collections and Manager, Library and Information Services, of the Royal College of Physicians in London.
Caroline currently works as part of the Research Development team at the University of Sussex, supporting the research strategy and applications for external funding for the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS). She is the internal team lead for matters relating to Open Access and Research Data Management in the Research Office.
Her new post is funded in totality by The Parasol Foundation Trust who recently donated £600,000 towards the University’s curriculum development and learning resources. The University will be hosting a reception to launch the newly-renamed Parasol Library once Caroline takes on the new role.
