| Understanding Diabetes |
| Type 2 Diabetes is a chronic condition defined by the body’s inability to produce enough of a hormone called insulin, or it becomes resistant to it, causing elevated blood sugar levels. Over time, high blood sugars can lead to serious health problems if not managed properly. It is the most common type of diabetes affecting millions worldwide.
This poster aims to educate individuals living with type 2 diabetes, helping them better understand their condition and empowering them to take proactive steps to prevent serious health problems and improve their health overall. |
| When “no” means nothing: the reality of Sexual Assault and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder |
| The poster presents a grim depiction of sexual
Violence and its link to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Statistics reveals a significant portion of victims since it shows 1 in 4 women, 1 in 6 children, and 1 in 18 men are affected by sexual violence (Criminal Injuries Helpline 2023). Symptoms of PTSD from sexual assault range from flashbacks and anxiety to self-destructive behaviour. The Office of National Statistics (2021) revealed that 80% of survivors refrain from reporting their experience with a high risk of PTSD among half of those affected within weeks of the traumatic event. |
| ARE YOU IN A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP? |
| “Are You in a Healthy Relationship?” is an interactive poster designed for young teenagers, aimed at educating them about the key components of a healthy relationship. It highlights the importance of mutual respect, trust, communication, consent, and balance within relationships.
The poster breaks down the concept of consent, using catchy phrases and supporting videos to make the topic easier to understand. It also features an interactive quiz to encourage self-reflection, and a myth-busting section that debunks common misconceptions about relationships, sexual health, and consent — issues particularly relevant as teenagers begin to explore dating and become sexually active. |

To address this, the proposal recommends a mobile app linked to smartwatches that track activity, set goals, and encourage movement. This solution is based on evidence from recent studies and follows the NHS England Change Model (2018) to support safe and sustainable change. Nurses, physiotherapists, managers, and IT teams can work together to deliver the project. The aim is to improve patient recovery, reduce hospital stays, and support better care for older adults. |
| Introducing Alternative pain Assessment Tools: The PQRST Method |
| The proposed service improvement is to replace the traditional 1-10 pain scale with more detailed tools like the PQRST assessment method. The 1-10 scale can be too simplistic, especially for patients who struggle to describe their pain. PQRST (Provocation, Quality, Region/Radiation, Severity, Timing) provides a more structured approach, helping healthcare professionals understand pain more clearly. This can lead to better treatment decisions, improved patient communication and more effective pain management, especially in acute or palliative care settings. |
| Preserving Dignity: Enhancing End-Of-Life Care Through Evidenced-Based Practice |
| This presentation explores how hospitals can better uphold patient privacy and dignity during end-of-life care by critically analysing current practices using SWOT framework and recent research. It includes with a service improvement proposal, a staff workshop designed to enhance compassionate, patient-centred care. |
| Implementing an in-house interpreter team at the GHA: Service improvement tool |
| This service improvement tool aims to establish an in-house interpreter team for the GHA in order to improve communication with non-native speakers. Using the NHS Change model, it follows a structured approach, including piloting, process mapping, data analysis, and securing funding. Staff engagement and leadership support will ensure successful integration, leading to better patient outcomes.

| Our group will deliver a role-play presentation focused on the NMC Code and the importance of nurses adhering to professional standards.
The scenario will involve a registered nurse who is removed from the NMC register due to failing to comply with the Code. Through this role play, we aim to highlight the critical role of nurses, the importance of professional conduct, and the consequences of not upholding the NMC Code. All group members will actively participate in the presentation at the End. |
