Marketing plays a significant role in organisations across all sectors of the community including private, public and not for profit industries. This module offers a conceptual basis for making marketing decisions in a fast-changing business environment where organisations face competitive, social and environmental challenges in delivering customer value and achieving their business objectives. Marketing management requires a broad understanding of consumer behaviour and contemporary marketing strategies related to product development and management, pricing, distribution and communication, to enable decision making that reflects an understanding of their ethical, social and sustainability impacts.
This module provides an innovative approach to teaching and learning marketing. This is a contemporary journey where the emphasis is on the student’s learning experience. A requirement therefore is for students to participate in class, which means students need to prepare for each of the sessions to enable them to join the conversation. This expectation of active participation also means students are encouraged to bring their life stories and business experience to the table. The premise of this approach is experiential learning, where the development of student understanding is the goal.
