What brought you to the University of Gibraltar?

I chose the University of Gibraltar because I was looking for a university where I could study while still having time to be close to nature, in a place with less pollution and fewer crowds. The university’s courses are tailored to current industry needs, and the small class sizes allow for more direct interaction with lecturers. Lastly, the people at the university are very approachable and diverse, allowing me to meet people from different nationalities.

How has your experience of the programme and the university been so far?

So far, my experience at the University of Gibraltar has been great and enjoyable. The modules we have are essential and aligned with the course. The lecturers are very approachable, understandable, and knowledgeable. They also incorporate different real-world examples so that we know how to handle similar situations in the future, which I find amazing. The campus is very welcoming and calm, providing everything you need for studying. They have materials posted on Canvas, and the library is always open. Plus, living in Gibraltar has been an adventure because, even though it is a small country, there are a lot of opportunities here after university. Overall, I feel very blessed and lucky to be here in Gibraltar, and especially at the University of Gibraltar.

As part of your degree, you have spent some time on placement. Which was your favourite, and how it has it enriched your experience as a whole?

Currently, I am interning with Playtech, a gaming company in Gibraltar. My experience so far has been really great, and it’s truly a learning process. I love that the University of Gibraltar is connected to different businesses here, and I am thankful for that because the university is making sure that students are trained and equipped with both knowledge and experience. They are also trying to provide us with better education and opportunities. My favourite part so far has been the learning process. Since I started my placement, I’ve been learning many things that, honestly, I had never heard of before. I’ve learned how to adapt in every situation and how to be teachable. My experience has been very positive because the company has also been great to me. Overall, I am always excited to go to the office and ready to learn new things.

How have you found student life at the University of Gibraltar?

Student life at the University of Gibraltar has been really enjoyable and adventurous. The smaller class sizes make making friends and connecting with other students and lecturers easy. The atmosphere on campus is calm and friendly, and there’s no pressure. The university’s location also offers an outstanding balance between studying and leisure, with many of the activities provided by Gibraltar. Overall, it is a great place for those who enjoy studying while being close to nature and still having time to explore.

What would you say to someone interested in studying at the University of Gibraltar?

If you’re looking for a university where you can receive a personalised education, ensure a great learning experience, and maintain a balanced life between study and leisure, the University of Gibraltar is a great choice. The courses they offer are aligned with industry needs, and they have partnered with different organisations to provide us with better learning experiences and opportunities that other universities don’t have. The university is full of supportive and helpful people who always make sure everything is going well. It’s a great place for students who want to grow both academically and personally because, to be honest, there is no pressure while studying here. They ensure that assessment due dates don’t overlap and give us enough time to complete our work.
